Would you pay to have your loved one’s ashes sealed into a stone with a granite plaque and dropped into the sea off the coast at Weymouth?
A new venture by Wreck to Reef plans to give something back to the sea: they will be releasing thousands of baby lobsters into an artificial reef in a joint project that will replenish declining lobster stocks. The reef will be designed to protect the 2cm baby lobsters from predators and the elements as they grow to maturity over 5 to 6 years.
An outer reef is planned to protect the mature lobsters, and it is the stones for this that Wreck to Reef hopes will be built with Solace Stones, designed to form a memorial reef, the first of its kind in the UK.
